23Sept09Af.jpg

Swirling red dust from drought stricken Central Australia has been blown across eastern New South
Wales, a relatively rare meteorogical event - the last being 1944. The dust has roared across the
Blue Mountains at 100 km per hour and fallen on everything (during last night's rain storm) as a
layer of red mud, including my silver car (pictured) which was not garaged last night. The clouds of
dust have gone on to settle across the Sydney Basin, reducing visibility in places to 2 metres,
stopping harbour ferry services, closing airports, shutting down freeway tunnels and cancelling
outdoor sporting events.
