As we leave the Shelly Beach precinct, this helpful sign sets out to describe what it calls
the "Manly Scenic Walkway". One gets the impression that we are about to enter upon a well set up
and co-ordinated experience which is properly marked and easy to follow. Unfortunately we had some
difficulty in finding our way about. This is in part due to the fact that two entirely different authorities
manage North Head. These are Sydney Harbour National Park and the former military reserve NOW called
North Head Sanctuary, neither of whom seem to acknowledge the existence of the other for the benefit of hikers.
