After seeing a gallery of pics of the shut down Presidio of San Francisco, I felt motivated to take some pics of the former Fort Ord which is now called Ord Military Community (OMC).

Some facilities remain virtually unchanged since the 7th Infantry Division pulled out with the BRAC of the early 90's such as the PX, Commissary, Main Chapel, library and a couple housing areas near the gas station and Burger King so I tried to take pics of the other areas that might be of interest to someone who hasn't seen it in 15 years. Pics include barracks unit headquarters areas that are still boarded up and some areas that have been totally renovated such as the 12th Street shopping center and those being used by the California State University at Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and the former Silas B. Hayes Hospital which is now a DoD Center. Sensitive to security concerns, the only pic I took of it was as I drove by from the opposite lane while travelling at 30 mph (I'm surprised you can read the sign). And, I had to close it out with a pic of my Mustang :-)
