We went to the Dancing of the Giglio (Italian for "lily") in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NYC. The Giglio is an 80 foot tower of aluminum and paper mache topped by a statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The whole thing weights 4 and 1/2 tons and is carried, along with a band on a platform, on the shoulders of approximately 130 men who "dance" for 20 to 40 yards in a series of moves. They've been doing it for 100 years.
