Dying Light over Lassen Peak

The dying light of a pleasant spring day fades from Lassen Peak, whose slopes still slumber beneath their blankets of winter snow. This still active volcano could wreak enormous damage should it erupt, which last occurred in 1917. Prior to that date, Lassen Peak (named for Danish-American immigrant Peter Lassen) had been quiescent for 27,000 years.

The shadow in the snow to the right looks like a dove in flight, further suggesting the peace of the mountain. Beautiful capture, Dave!
