Beau accompanied me on a trip to bring back photos of the Eastern Mojave Preserve. The previous October, he had suffered a catastrophic back injury and had been paralyzed for well over a week. By the time I made this photograph - after we had camped in the desert for a night - Beau was ready to head for home.
