Original Building

I probably had a class in one of the rooms in this buildling. How much have those trees grown since 1955, when I most likely made this photograph?

Those trees in front of rooms 7 and 8 are huge now. What used to be room 6 is now part of the new library. It is beautiful. The courtyard now is still used for the Halloween Festival and all other activities.

The classroom in the middle is room 7, which is the first class that I entered when Clover was first built. It was the second grade with Miss Weinstein. Room 8 was Miss Goldstein, then she moved into the bungaloes once they were built/installed. The central court was where we had our Halloween march around...Clifford Hersch went as a shiek in the 6th grade...I went as a bloodied surgeon....Howie Newcomb wore a box with a large question mark on it. The easles in front of the class were a favorite spot to get outside and paint...the tv show (which predated The Wonderful World of Color), "Disneyland" was featuring rockets and space exploration so all of the boys were painting pictures of rockets. The school nurse was Mrs Cole who used the most horrifically painful, stinging green soap to cleanse any blacktop skid or injury. Her office was next to Mrs Maginniss', the principal. The sweet smell of blooming star jasmine always filled the air in front of her office in June, whose scent heralded the coming summer vacation.

My name is Mitchell Sperling. My three brothers, Mark, Perry and Ronnie and I all attended Clover. YOU HAVE A PICTURE OF MY COUSIN, JOEL AXELROD, in a few of the pictures. Your sight was a trip back in my mind. Thanks. By the way, I still remember the smell of the asphalt on a drizzly morning at Clover. I am an Attorney for the last 26 years.
Thanks for this
