A diamondback rattler slithers across Soda Lake Road, in Carrizo National Monument. On the afternoon I made this photograph, all of three cars went by in 30 minutes, as a friend and I waited for the snake to safely cross the road.

So vulnerable, not the way I ordinarily think of a rattlesnake. Nicely done!

People must be blind to not comment on this image. This is incredible and a photo you definately do not see every day. I love how the snake is in such clarity and the background appears so wide open. INcredible great shot. I vote for this, even if I will be the only one voting. This is very impressive.
