Obama Victory Party - Los Angeles, California, USA

Outside, on the boulevard, pedestrians shouted and drivers honked their horns in paroxysms of unrestrained joy. Those who had wanted a different outcome to the day were silent.

Inside my daughter's apartment, her friends and friends of her friends became quiet, too, as they gathered around the television to watch a momentous event unfold. It was an event they had helped create with their votes, as they watched and listened to and applauded the words of Barack Obama, President-Elect of the United States of America.

Hooray at last! So glad you got to capture this historic event. Here it was very quiet but I think in most everyone's homes they must have been shouting with tears of joy.

Long time coming!

Hey, I know you're tall, but were you standing on a chair when you took this?
It was very loud in Northern California. SWAT and news helicopters buzzed overhead. Lots of families making sure their children participated in running outside and yelling with stunned surprise and joy. Some banged on pots and pans.
Wonder how may people will name their babies Barack or Michelle?

Hooray! It was quiet in our neighborhood--except for our family.

I'm just savoring this day; and, look at all those beautiful young faces... including our young president elect!
I really like how you've framed this picture. Well done.
