Hi Dave, congratulations! Your work is fantastic. I saw your images using sigma 80 400 EX OS with Canon Rebel, great work. I´m waiting for a Sigma 80 400 second hand from ebay to fit my Canon 5dmkII, hope that works ok. Next month I will get a Canon Rebel T2i. Your work inspires me a lot. Again congatulations!
Regards, Diego.

Hi Dave,
Well, on the strength of your advise (and the remarkable photos to back it up) I took the plunge and bought the 70-300 lens. Here is my first shot from it http://www.pbase.com/cmanaginged/image/52699233/original I wanted to share it with you first. Thanks for the help, I really love the lens!

Great work you got here, Dave. I really enjoyed browsing through your galleries. Could I ask your opinion on the 70-300IS lens? I have a 70-200 f/4 which is why I'm reluctant to take the plunge. One of them would be redundant.

Thanks,

James

I am doing a publication for a not for profit and want to put an image of a state capital on the cover. I have no money to spend. Would you be willing to give permission for use of your topofstatecapitalbuilding image http://mishuna.image.pbase.com/u36/davev/upload/24560340.TopofStateCapitalBuilding.jpg)? All I could offer would be an acknowledgement (used by permission etc) and a copy of the publication.

Dave,

It's me again... I wanted to stop back by and thank you for introducing me to PBase in the first place. I became a member myself just last month and am really enjoying myself. Not sure that I would have found it without you pointing me to it, so I am grateful to you.

Also, I did end up getting the F717. Funny, I see you have been shooting with the Canon S1 IS, which is the camera I was debating holding out for instead of the F717. A different animal, true, but I was still drawn to it. (How do you like that one? :-) ).

At any rate, the Sony and I have been getting along very well. You gave great advice regarding it and were dead-on about its good and bad points, for one that it is not the best with action shots. The other pictures it takes go a long way toward forgiving that, and I am quite content with it.

All the best,
Carmen

Dave,

I have been rifling through web pages trying to figure out where to jump into the digital camera scene (I have an old SLR Pentax). I read your review on the Sony 717 on the ConsumerGuide/Bizrate and was delighted to find a link to your pages. You can only get so much out of 'giga-whatsa-pixel' reviews (Albiet helpful, they can make your head spin after a while. Much nicer and sometimes more helpful to see the camera in action.)

You've got a great eye and some sharp pictures here. I know the 717 has been out for a while and there are newer cameras out there, but I keep orbiting back to this one. The price seems great (I'm not sure my skill level merits over $1000, and this is well below that by now).

At any rate, thanks for putting your pictures out there -- it was a very pleasant 'detour' and quite helpful besides.

Thanks,
Carmen

Hello Dave,

I really enjoyed your pictures and I am really looking forward to taking some nice photos of my own. I just purchased the Sony 717 and so far I am really impressed with it. I am not a professional when it comes to taking pictures but I will soon learn. Hopefully... If you have any suggestions or recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated. My email address is Djennings5@houston.rr.com.

Thanks again and keep up the great work...
