Leonard Knight came to Niland, California 23 years ago. He painted the big red heart on the side of the mountain. His original plan was to stay for a week, paint the heart and move on. He is still here, spreading his message that God loves us all. He loves receiving visitors, and will be more than happy to give you a personal tour of Salvation Mountain - his own creation, though he will tell you that it all comes from God.
The first few pictures are of the Salton Sea area on the drive to Salvation Mountain.
Really nice gallery and a good tribute to Leonard, Dave.
I took my fifth trip out there a couple days ago and brought 22 people with me for a day of photography.
Everybody had a great time meeting Leonard and hearing his stories.
I've brought him a ladder and copies of a magazine (featuring a cover shot of the Mountain that I shot) on
previous visits but this time I brought him a few cans of paint (the more traditional gift).
Here's some shots I've done there (newer ones coming soon...)

Great shots Dave! Really like the color and textures. My favorite is the LOVE sign done in branches with the sky behind, and painted window below, very graphic, with great saturated colors. Rosemary
