Everest Base Camp Trek 2004, Nepal

My wife , Claire, and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary by trekking from Lukla to Gorak Shep in the Nepalese Himalaya (October 2004). We were with 9 other UK trekkers, an excellent Nepalese guide (Keshar Bdr. Khadka), Sirdar (Mr Ratna) and 4 assistants (Mr Ratna's son Arjun, Furba, Tendi, and Ramesh). It was a moving experience. The scenery was spectacular and the glimpse of Sherpa life amazed us - they work so very hard to survive the harshness of the Khumbu region, and their trekking lodges kept us well fed and warm at night. We suffered a cold and mild symptoms of acute mountain sickness (AMS) but it was worth it for the overall experience. We also raised £1300 in sponsorship for Leukaemia Research.
Oh - and I took a great number of digital pics and slides too!

You have done a wonderful with the gallery. My boyfriend and i got engaged on the Everest trek last October. We got vivid memories while going through your website. We are getting married this October. Oour trek was booked with Responsible Adventures run by Raj Tamang. The services, staff and food provided by them was cleary unparelled.
