Cannot help but come back to your Karakoram Trek 2006 gallery to soak up the sights. You must have some nice memories to mull over on a wet British day (if ever they are wet in these warming times). Nice work indeed. Andrew

The pictures of your trek to Kw are simply stunning. I especially like the black and white rendering, which makes things so stark and raw. We are planning to go there this summer, and I was wondering about batteries. I have a 5D Mk II, and figure I would drain a battery in about 2 days especially if I am shooting video as well. How did you deal with the charging issue? And how did you carry your camera? In a camera backpack or separately? Sorry for bothering you with all these questions!

Dear Dave,
I love your photgraphs! I just began reading Three Cups of Tea...These images help alot...to understand to visualize something so foreign to me.
Thanks,

Hi Dave
Thanks for your comments on my pics. The window pic was taken on a backstreet in Patan not near the Kumari's residence.

Hi Dave,
I discovered your photos of Karakorams, and discovered PBase at the same time. Thanks! Your photo essay of your trip in Karakorams is fantasic. The photos are super! I've spent a fair amout of time along Karakoram Hwy and in the mountians of Pakistan in general, including a horse trip (1989) from Peshawar, Kalash, Chital, Mastuj, Gilgit, Chilas, Babu Sar to Kaghan, Azad Kashmir, back to Peshawar. You really captured the rocky lunar landscapes of the mountains.

Hello,
I had just posted a panorama of Mount Rakaposhi and the Hunza valley on the show and tell page, when I saw your link in the travel section. Amazing pictures, of an amazing place. We didn't get across to Skardu, but went up to Baltit instead. I've got a lot of pictures waiting to be edited, but thought I would invite you to my page anyway. At present it's mostly India, but images from two weeks in Pakistan will be up there soon. I totally agree with you about the people up there, and indeed throughout Pakistan. I even learned the word for it: mehmanewazi (can't guarantee the spelling), means hospitable in urdu.
So thanks for the images,

Seth (user name sethlazar)

Thanks for capturing my homeland so beautifully. I own a 20D and reading your notes, I think I should seriously think of capturing raw only which at the moment I only occassionally do.
Great work and thanks again from all Pakistanis.

I noticed on dpreview you posted regarding the tamron 17-35 and 5d. How has this combination been for you. I am seriously considering the tamron for my own 5D
Thanks, Dean

Hi David, I just don't know how I found your site but had to let you know that I just love your photography and how awesome that you and your wife Claire celebrated your first wedding anniversary by trekking in the Nepalese Himalaya. I'm now myself in the early stages of planning my very first time ever trek to the Himalaya and even thinking about Everest Base Camp. I just wonder if I can pull this off and whether this is something that I can do outside of a formal tour group or not. Would love to chat you about this.
