Happisburgh Beach (view from access steps)
Happisburgh Lighthouse (vignette)
WW2 Pillbox ( some people will make a home just anywhere:-) but what a view!
Even a sturdy WW2 coastal defence pillbox has sucumbe to the waves that brought down the cliff where it sat. Notice it is lying on it`s roof where it fell and just rolled down the beach.
Apart from the full sized manhole you can see the road bollards that were put in when the road to the original car park collapsed, these were intended to prevent drivers from driving over the cliff but as you can see the bollards landed up over the cliff themselves.
They have started to clean up the beach at Happisburgh but notice how close the remaining houses are to the collapsing cliffs. They haven`t actually added much in the way of extra defences so one must wonder whats going on? they have also installed a new car park in the village but it isn`t that far from the cliff edge. Notice that this is a complete manhole and behind is the cover, they have just fallen over the cliff and remain where they landed. You have got to ask yourself just how safe it is to be walking around below the cliffs!!!
