That elusive second winter on a stretch of beach in southern England regarded as the home of the Med Gull in the UK - Hythe in Kent. Unlike when I visited Glamorgan for this species today I was blessed with good light albeit in strong winds.
For those unfamiliar with Mediterranean Gulls the bird retains significant black in the primaries as a second year bird although the rest of its plumage is as an adult.
As this species is a recent colonist of the UK populations are closely monitored hence the Darvic ring.
