Pennsic War 35

It was an excellent Pennsic for me this year. I spent a lot of time just relaxing so the galleries are not as numerous as in the past. I focused more on the performing arts than the martial and only shot one battle.

While the modern world got in the way of my being able to join everyone at Pennsic 35, my sister, Una, brought me a "Darter Calendar" so that I could feel like I was there!! It has since then hung in my office, and it helps my co-workers understand my "wierd" hobby by presenting the SCA in a very positive light... Darter, you hold a mirror up to us and reflect back the best of what we are. You truly are one of AEthelmearc's "National Treasures."

I'd like to put some of your pictures on the midrealm siege site. Unfortunately, most of them seem to be of Eastrealm and Allied siege engines, but that will have to do for now. There are some great pictures of ballistas shooting though the gate in the castle battle.

Addressing "A State Dinner" - I thought it was very elegand, with some intimate, poignant moments. I wish there had been captions- just the most rudimentary; and while I liked the overall tone of the black and white images, I think the occasional view of the rich, heraldic colours would've enhanced the experience. My computer doesn't usually encompass "slideshows" but this time it did. I enjoyed it very much.

Love the pictures Darter! Although, Pennsic is so vibrant, I was grooving much more on the color than the black and whites (except for the Wenches- it seemed good there).

Can't wait for next years!

I've only been to Pennsic once, and the heat stroke etc., made me not want to return. BUT your pics show me what I'm missing! THank you, they are lovely, and I'll give it another shot. In many less layers, even if I have to go in just a kitan though it's not my chosen period.

You took some great shots of the "Plate and Mail Tournament". I'm looking forward to those. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you a DVD of things I've seen out here in Japan, and the "Challange of the Hourglass" that we did at Pennsic. Thanks for taking the photos!

I bought one of the calendars, its pretty nice. I love the countdown to Pennsic 36 and the fact that it runs from pennsic to pennsic rather than Jan-Dec.
