Nixon, PA

Having the day off from work at the museum didn’t mean I had the day off from work… LOL I spent some time trimming the trees on my girl’s property while she rode the mower. It was a very hot and humid day, the light hazy and diffused from the moister in the air. I was working away and beginning to really wonder what I might shoot when I spied some purple irises growing in the back yard. After finishing my work I went in to get my camera and macro lens intending on shooting flowers.

It’s what I found around those flowers that fascinated me. There were these two insect, locked in mating and hovering around the stems. It took me a while but I managed to get a decent, in focus shot! LOL

Canon EOS 10D ,Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
1/1500s f/11.0 at 100.0mm iso1600 full exif

This guy's a member of the 5' high club.... and that takes guts. He may be an invertebrate but he's hardly spineless!
Awesome shot!!!!!!
