Hell's Hollow, PA

Sunday was a good day. The weather was once again sunny and warmer though a bit windy in the morning. After a breakfast of shoulder bacon & eggs (damn good stuff!) and a few chores we went for a hike. We went to Hell’s Hollow, a peaceful place to stroll and enjoy waterfalls and such.

On the way out I spotted this little spider sitting on the snow. Being the first bug I’ve seen this year outside I had to take a photo. We even spotted a flocks of robins, geese and a turkey vulture; all signs of Spring! Soon the weather should turn and become green!

The rest from the day can be seen in my PA Winter 2005 gallery.

That is a great shot. Thank you for posting it. I have never seen a spider walking on snow / ice before! Being cold blooded creatures, they would rather quickly be immobilized, I would imagine... unless the dark coloration allowed it to be warmed by the sun. Had better watch out for birds!
