This is Flavia Zortea, one of the most influential people in my life, at the school on my last night of evening classes. She is a teacher at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I just completed another degree in Industrial Design. I first met her at that school back in the late 80’s as a young and wild 18 year old punk. I can remember how I used to have so much trouble wrapping my mind around her concepts of what IS art and how one should use ones mind to really consider how we perceive the world. Being that she was raised in Germany during the war, she also lent an unusual perspective on history and human nature I have found priceless. More than anything else, over the years of our friendship, she has taught me to not only look at the world in my own unique way but to also not fear conveying my view in my own way.
I just wish she would stay still long enough for me to get a good shot…she jumps about like a little bird when I point my camera at her…LOL
