Pittsburgh, PA USA

Having the day off from work I decided to shoot near my apartment. Down by the river is the old Heppenstall mill, a long abandoned factory. I hiked along the disused rail line this dreary, gray day until I found this old door opening into the works. I was tempted to go in, but thought better of it as there were construction workers nearby and I don’t need a trespassing fine right before the holiday. Perhaps another day though….

May I just say I adore this picture. The way the colours are arranged, the marvelous contrast between the foreground and the back, places us in front of a real masterpiece. And it seems you are becoming more and more addict to the 17-40mm. What a joy. Sincere congratulations !

This is a marvelously vivid, gritty image, Ron - LOVE it! Great abstract feel, DOF, and exposure. Outstanding work!

Hi there Ron. I really like this photograph, the partly opend door revealing a glimpse of the old works sure looks inviting and makes for a good photograph. I think I'd be tempted to venture in, there must be endless photographic opportunities in there. It has to be worth seeking permission for this one.

Great DOF Ron! I can picture the building in it's entirety... I have seen a few of those around SF, then the next day the building is gone and there's a new one up...
