Hi Dan,
With this one we can see one of the morphological distinguishers allowing us to eliminate genus Amazona (compare it to your Amazona on TrekNature). This tail is long, and it is tapering, and even though the rectrices are a bit mussed up we can note that from laterally to centrally we have a scaling effect of the feather length (i.e. shorter laterally and increasingly longer to the long central rectrices). That I am aware of, in Nicaragua (unfortunately the country lacks a good avian country guide - you more or less have to look at the guides of surrounding countries), there is only one genus of Parrots with this tail, in Nicaragua, i.e., Aratinga.

This is an adult Aratinga canicularis canicularis (Orange-fronted Conure (Parakeet). I would have liked the periocular skin to be more whitish, but there is no confusion species in this zone, and I have eliminated all possible escapes.

Nice shot. Not finding this bird in any of my books. Appears to be an amazon--but the yellow around the eye is puzzling. =V=
