Although a typical sight for many a disappointed tourist,
a fogged-in Golden Gate Bridge adds a sense of mystic to the city's beauty.
Summer is the foggiest season in San Francisco and this one is no different.
We may get a few hours of sunshine in the afternoon before the the fog rushes back in.
Interesting note: The bridge's unique color, international orange, was chosen because
it was visible in the fog, stood up well to weathering and enhanced the natural surroundings.
The U.S. Navy wanted the bridge painted with black and yellow stripes to assure even greater visibility for passing ships.
Are'nt we lucky the engineers stuck with orange? ;o)
