Yunnan.

Bon Voyage !

Yunnan - which means " the South of Clouds " - is a Chinese province situated in the southwest of the country.

This region has always been a commercial crossroads because it is border of Tibet and Burma. Caravans of horses, mules, yaks and human carriers transported on very dangerous tracks winding in hillside on 2 400 to 2 600 km, bricks of tea to exchange them in Tibet against horses, furs, wool, musk and Tibetan medicines.

Yunnan offers a wide rage of magnificent landscapes from the high and cold Tibetan Plateau in the North to the southern rice fields terraces enjoying a tropical climate.

A large diversity of ethnic groups (26) live in Yunnan. Added to the beauty of the landscapes this diversity makes of a journey in this Chinese province a very enriching experience.

Besides the pollution is there much less present than in the eastern plains...
