Hello I was wondering if you were able to help me out actually you seem like a smart collector as I can see by all the guitars. I have a Dexter Johnson Luthier 1989 on the lable inside it looks like it might have been signed not sure but it says (#120 Dexter Johnson) anyways to the point I was wondering what the Value of it would be and it is in Mint Condition.If you could e-mail me at salutate@hotmail.com I would appreciate it very so.

a Most impressive collection you have there, wow!! I trust you play them too!! I'm curious about the Nick Lucas model though. I'm doing a lot of research into that model, since I'm going to build one myself. Are you certain about the year of manufacture of yours? - According to a couple of sources, that model was only released in 1928.

Dan..Great collection. I have a few guitars myself, one of which I need an informed opinion of. It is a one off Martin prototype D-15W, all solid walnut except the neck. Martin says that this instrument was either sold or given to a Martin employee and is the only one known. A nice soft finish guitar that sounds better than the D-15s now in production. Played by both Tony (briefly) and Wyatt (for 20 minutes) and both complimented the guitar. By the way, when Tony agreed to do a run on the D-15W, he handed me THE GUITAR. What a charge that was. That notwithstanding, I need advice from a knowledgeable collector as to the marketability of a guitar such as this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Love the Nick Lucas Gibsons.

Dan I have a guitar that looks exctly like the 1919 but I think it is an earlier Martin,before they changed the serial numbers.....I'm lost on this one...the numbers are located in the back of the body under where the strap peg hole is....it has 4 numbers and then a space in betweew those and the last number...looks like this and these are the serial numbers 2142--6 at one time it had a paper lile material martin logo on the head but that came of many yrs ago before I acquired the instrument and I've had it 25yrs...always planning on restore as it is really in fairly good condition to restore..if you can figure anything out on the serial number I would sure bless you...those models look so much alike it takes an expert to actually declare what yr...thank you for your time...Great site.....Rob

Hi Dan, thankyou so much for your email and your info. I'm sorry to trouble you with your precious time. I also sent a email to Laravee with the I.D number inside the guitar which read....D5-18330...and the answer I received back was, it is a....C-05 25.1.1996...and not a D5. How bizare, don't you think so? Anyway, thanks again, hope we remain in contact.

Hi Dan - WOW 2 - Nick Lucas Specials - I've been doing some research on L-0, L-1 & NL models from 1926 -1929. Can you provide any details i.e. serial #'s, FON (if there is any stamped on the neck block). AND body depth - this was one of the most significant design changes made for these models. Not to mention all the really cool custom fret inlays, planetary tuners, and really nice rosewood 'pyramid' bridge.

Fantastic collection! I'm wondering how you store your guitars for best protection. Do you keep the strings on...loosen the strings...take them off all together? Do you play them regularly to let them know they are loved? I have a 1966 Martin 018 in great shape, but I don't play it often and I always wonder whether I should take the strings off when it's stored for a long time. I'm going to start playing again soon and I guess I'll find out if I've totally messed it up by ignoring it for so long. Thanks for any info. Bettie

Interesting collection. Each time I'm surprised to discover all the things that could be collected. For you that's guitars, and for my wife that's old combs. At the end the pleasure is the same. Best regards. Patrick
