Our Good Friday morning off: Soaking in the culture by birding at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory. Hooded Crows are everywhere As are Laughing Doves Red-Tailed Wheatear- not so common

Israel is apparently booming, with a great deal of building going on. Good Friday Services at Notre Dame (where we were staying) Old City Friday evening. Very narrow and steep streets, with steps. Old Jerusalem

Common Blackbird Emmaeus (one of the possible sites- there are conflicting records about the distance of Emmaeus from Jerusalem) The Israel Museum Dead Sea Scrolls are housed in this building, which was made to look like one of the jars in which they were found.
Human Shaped coffins from the 13th century BCE, found on the southern costal plain. 9000 year old stone masks. And a lot of other really interesting things. Outside the Old City- I don't know where these people were from. Jerusalem
