The Savannah Sparrow is the most common species of sparrow found in southeast Texas during the winter time and because of its abundance it usually goes relatively unappreciated. I know I often overlook them when out birding but this one was posing so nicely during a visit to Anahuac NWR yesterday that I couldn’t help but to take a few photos. If you look closely, it is actually a pretty neat little bird.
