This Ferruginous Pygmy Owl was the first owl of our Costa Rica trip this month. We heard it calling from way down the street and it was nice enough to hang around long enough for us to walk on over. These tiny owls usually have a special talent for getting all the small birds in the area fired up but this one didn’t seem to be getting any respect as no small birds were harassing it. We were all thankful that it was willing to stick around for photos.
