One thing I was particularly excited about going into the Costa Rica trip earlier this month was the opportunity to do some “macro” (close up) photography at night. It was a chance to try out the new Canon 35mm macro lens. I had some concerns that it might be too short and might frighten away my subjects. As it turned out the light weight of the rig and the short working distance ended up working wonderfully. I’m looking forward to using the setup more here at home. This Red-eyed Tree Frog was one of many subjects that we found during our night walk.
