White-wedged Piculet

Brazil

www.texastargetbirds.com

This tiny woodpecker is the White-wedged Piculet and it is an easy bird to overlook, they quietly move through the vine tangles and dense vegetation and generally don’t seem to attract much attention to themselves. I love any species of Piculet so I was thrilled when I heard this one give its high pitch call. We were all delighted when he finally stopped moving and gave us a good look.
