Aphelocoma coerulescens
We finished our first birding day of the trip and it turned out to be a great one. The weather looked a little iffy when we started but it didn’t slow us down. We had great opportunities with the Limpkin, Prothonotary Warbler and many others. Everyone enjoyed watching a Wood Stork feed and I think everyone in our group picked up a few life birds. This afternoon our primary target was the Florida Scrub Jay, the only endemic on our trip. We had to search but eventually our efforts paid off when we found a small group of them. This one posed nicely, I think it was expecting a hand out as it was hanging around the parking lot when we got back from our fruitless search for them. I think our efforts really paid off. Looking forward to tomorrow!
