Sayornis saya
This Say’s Phoebe was hanging around the visitor’s center at Big Bend National park earlier this month. The bird seemed to have no fear of humans and only left its perch to go after insects then almost always returned to the same perch. I have always been a little curious about where this bird got its name. From what I could determine the name comes from Thomas Say who was the first person to describe the species.
