Thraupis episcopus
The Blue-gray Tanager is one of several species of Tanagers that we enjoyed seeing on our Costa Rica trip and was the only one that we managed to see every single day. Even though there were a lot of them around they remained interesting to photograph all the way to the last day. I think those delicate blue tones have a lot to do with it. This particular one was another from our first couple of hours of the trip. This is also one of those species whose range spans almost all the way to Texas and it is speculated by some to be one that might show up in Texas some day as the climate changes.
