Yaquina Bay lighthouse, Newport, OR

On a gloomy day. The design is different from all other Oregon lighthouses, with the light built on top of the keeper's house. It was only in service for 3 years, due to the fact that its proximity to the more powerful Yaquina Head lighthouse was causing confusion. The keeper, Charles Pierce, was a former Army officer who lived there with his wife and 6 children. The quarters are surprisingly spacious.

My parents moved to Florence in 1980 so I shot this place many times over the years. Good work.
