Another powerfully graphic image, Chris.
All elements gracefully and tastefully captured.
I would have preferred exclusion of the somewhat
unflattering array of incandescent bulbs at the bottom,
which detract from the compositional strength
and pleasing unity.
But still a great image.
fantastic ..superb shot well seen!
Thank you heartily for the commentary, Nina. I'd like to get rid of the overexposed window too, but I think I'd lose some of the curvilinearity in the lower railing and on the light fixture which makes for a fitting coda to the rest of the piece, in a way "completing" it with just enough repetition to keep the image interesting. As for the top- I'd have liked to know what lay beyond myself! Unfortunately I never had time to climb the staircase (nor was I sure this was allowed). In any case, how would you suggest including more conext? A lower angle to bring in more spatial depth in the upper floors?
You asked for constructive critique and I will attempt to oblige Chris. :)
First of all let me say I like this image very much, but as you may have guessed there is a "but". For me the best part of the image is the spiralling top half of the picture, the lighting is good and the shapes are intriguing and please the eye. You will probably tell me that it wasn't possible, but I would have liked to have seen a little more of what goes on outside the circle at the very top. The light fitting chopped in half at the bottom of the picture marred by inevitable overexposure from the window doesn't work for me and I would crop it out. Does this help?
Great staircase and picture
