These are shots of the truck before the restoration. Yes, it looks GREAT in these shots
but it's a pig-in-a-poke, a cosmetic "restoration" done specifically with the intention of
finding someone who doesn't know what to look for and unloading it... that's where I
come into the picture.
As time went on, and I learned more and more about these trucks the problems began
to emerge. Brakes were shot, transmission needed rebuilding, engine ran well but leaked
oil from the main seals and water from a rusted freeze plug. The doors are from the wrong
year, the cab is rusted badly but it's all hidden with bondo and undercoating, the bed has
too many boards, the wiring is a fire waiting to happen... the list goes on.
The good thing is the frame is solid and there isn't anything that can't be fixed so instead
of crying in my beer I've decided to fix everything, upgrade the engine and make a solid,
dependable daily driver out of it. The only modifications will be disk brakes, 3:55 differential
and a rebuilt 235. The rest will be stock.
