Dreams of Antwerpen

The hour before dawn
when dreams disappear
and birds walk a tightrope
from one house to another

the hour before dawn and
dreams float like thin clouds
and birds wrestle in the shadows
and shadows waddle on tight ropes

from one apartment to another
on thin wings of hope and
light accumulates in soft puddles
and shadows leap onto dreams

the hour before dawn, when time
is not linear, we turn in our beds
at dawn’s quiet racket
the flying fermentations of dream.

The hour before dawn		 dreams float like thin clouds
