It was taken in the middle of the night in central Namibia (when it was still called South West Africa), using my car's headlights for illumination. That's me standing on the crest. An earth tremor caused the famous "Finger of God" to break up and collapse shortly after the photograph was taken, destroying the famous geological icon. This photo is consequently among the last ever taken.
