Perseid meteor (look carefully)

Shawnigan Lake

This is one image of two that showed a meteor out of about 30 I took in one hour last night. Each exposure was about 10 seconds and I saw these only this morning after loading the images into the computer. There is some tweaking and cropping of the original. The moon was out and the sky was not really dark at 3:00 am. These stories of taking meteor images is a bit like fish stories, there was a very bright meteor that streaked across the sky but I was adjusting the camera and therefor no picture of it. Check out the exif for camera setting details. This is my first attempt at meteor photography and I feel lucky to have captured anything at all.

Nikon D300S

other sizes: small medium original auto

After reading about meteor photography and in retrospect, I think that streak is more likely a satellite trail. Satellites produce a line that has a consistent brightness whereas meteors usually start dim and end in a bright flare.
