OneMoreBoat_v2

Vienna, Austria

I know it may have taken you a moment
to just "find" the "boat in motion".
But it is there for sure
and it does fulfill a purpose:
it counterpoints Vienna's solidly steady Millenium-Tower.

(BTW: my other two "Boats" are in the Exhibition Gallery.)

other sizes: small medium original auto

He he, I'm usually settled down with a book or watching the dreaded tube by the time dusk rolls around lately Daniel :-)

I do appreciate your commenting, CJ and Brent. Yes, CJ, that "almost like a cut and paste" look is precisely what I do not like overly here, and I even think this overall brighter "v2" image looks less crisp than the darker "v1". Results are, of course, different whether you shoot something purposely for the Challenge or just have taken a picture you--when looking at it on the computer-screen--suddenly realize it might work for the actual Challenge in progress (as is my case here); this confession is meant to be an answer to two completely different questions raised by you two... BTW, Brent: Now I'm really very intrigued: what the hell are **you** busy doing when "dusk finally rolls around"... ;-) -- db.

Pretty image Daniel. I think I like the second version better, but can't help but wonder if a landscape view might be prefered to be able to show more streaking motion of the boat? I have been hoping to do something similar to this on my waterfront the whole challenge, it's just that it gets dark so late here this time of year so when dusk finally rolls around I'm usually busy doing something else.

Daniel, for the challenge, this looks better as the brighter boat draws the eye now, but it does look a little surreal doesn't it oralmost like a cut and paste! LOL! But I like it anyway as it looks very fast! It would have been interesting to see a longer shutter and seen the white streak all the way across the image sooooooooo....if you get to this spot again, wait for a boat and shoot for 2-3s! :-D CJ.

Thanks a lot, CJ, for your suggestion! I knew someone would, eventually, take up the gauntlet and accept the "challenge" of this image here... I did what you recommended, CJ, but am not sure the result is what you had in mind: we definitely do have now *more boat* than before but possibly also *less motion* (?) and a somehow more artificial look, IMO. I put the original entry in "Pending" for you--and everyone else--to compare:http://www.pbase.com/image/99310733 Please let me know what you think! Thanks! (BTW: I apologize for accidentally having deleted all the comments when making the changes!) -- db.
