Alien in the Kitchen

New York City: a street vendor's cart

Proper exposure - the "alien" became a silhouette, adding mystery
No blurring or fuzziness - emphasizes the mystery of the "alien"
Correct color fidelity - adds a more surreal feeling which supports the "alien" theme

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/200s f/3.2 at 160.0mm iso1000 full exif

No, Kelly darlin', Tom, and Sue Anne, I didn't claim the tilt rule b/c I felt the tilt insufficient. Remember, the rule should be shattered, not tinkled with. :) This was shot in haste, as I was in the car; it was a quick grab, hence sloppy tilt. Being less than a shattering of tilt, I wanted to correct it, however, that would have lead to much of the light fixture being cropped, undesirably. I had to choose between the fixture and a straightening of the image - I felt the fixture more important, and the tilt did add a bit to the strange mood.

It's probably a combo of smoke and steam from the grill. ~ Lonnit

Surreal it is, and Kelly is right about the tilt, really sets it off. Fun shot.
Is that smoke or steam?
(could be an electrical fire by the look of the light fixture wiring)

I think this is eerie - yes the tilt is a broken rule.
