Shadow in the valley

Death Valley (Devils Golf Course)

Rules broken: Landscape in portrait composition. Including ones shadow in the frame in a scenic landscape situation.
Justification: The vertical composition enhanced the different layers and worked well for the shadow. The shadow was included to add more interest to the foreground and lead one into the frame.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM
1/200s f/16.0 at 16.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks Kelly,Lonnit and John.
Kelly, great imagination...yes...it does look like I am patting my head and rubbing my stomach...my kids got a kick out of that. Regarding the sensor...I do clean the sensor myself...havent cleaned this one yet. Thanks for pointing out the spots...cloned them out.

I like how the shadow gets you to visually cross the foreground even though the mountains are rather small in the background. John

Qualified. I personally don't like shadows in pix, but that's just my pet peeve. The image works. ~ Lonnit

RK - Do you clean your own sensor? It looks like a spot or two, but possibly may just have been the compression on the one in the upper right corner. Cool shot and it first made me think you were patting your head while rubbing your stomach ;) - Kelly
