EYES

Rule: the Golden Ratio
Because this photo is a wide rectangle, the proportions do not comply with the rule.
The crop was necessary to emphasize the eyes of the subject.

Canon PowerShot S5 IS
1/10s f/3.5 at 17.7mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

OK. Now what is the golden ratio. So many rules that I do not know. John

Thanks Lonnit for the second chance and for the kind words about my daughter's two sets of eyes! (this actually suits her personality, as well) I hope I have complied with your suggestion and am, indeed, now eligible.

What the??? Sigh... please come up with some cock-n-bull story to please me! Your justification is valid - your rule is not; there is no no-cropping rule! Ok, I'll help you out. Please make the following change:
Rule: Golden means rectangle is most pleasing proportions. With that, you will be eligible.

What I love most about the image is that the eyes within the glasses are the sharpest part, and how they fuzzier where they exist outside the lenses. The whole thing is affected by motion blur except the eye within the lens. Brilliant!!! Very well done. Please change your rule, to the suggested or your own bullshot, and then place back in the original gallery. ~ Lonnit

OK. And I agree. Maybe I'll play with this some more...

This image worked real well for me while it was a square thumbnail suggesting that maybe we should see a whole frame of black and keep this crop in the upper quarter. Really gutsy might be to include the whole lower face but to severely underexpose the lower 3/4 to see just the highlights. Then you would only have content in the upper 1/4. I like those eyes. John

Uh oh! Well, maybe I should have said no "skinny" cropping because it's weird.
Or maybe I should have mentioned the fact that the subject has four eyes.
Or maybe weird is just my thing.
