I still prefer the bw, Rod. To me it shows a more deliberate purpose which is well done. The detail in the leaves is eliminated in bw, which gives it power lacking in the color version. -tv

Thanks Tom & Abs:-)

this is cool. i like the high-contrast bw more 'coz of the spooky mood it creates. I like it. -Abstract
btw railing at the bottom right has a little more space (distance from the frame) than the left side.

Rod, the colour one has more detail in the leaves/trees.

I'm a bit torn between the B&W one & the colour one of this picy, wot do you think:-)
Rod 19-Nov-2007 06:25
Thanks Tommy, JV & Tom:-) Tommy is trying to turn me into an artiiiiiiist so I will leave this one as me B&W ahrt picy as I've brought the blue picy back:-)

I like the B&W, it accentuates the smooth (metal?) bridge. A bit dark in the tree, little detail, except the bridge. Draws me in, so it works.

don't let tv convert you to a black and white only guy. I loved the picture with the bothersome blues. This one is good too, but I think you should bring that one back.

Thank you for this outstanding bw with (thankfully) no bothersome blues. The beauty of black & white is its ability to distill a potentially maudlin muck of muddy hues down to a few critical elements: the bridge boldly penetrating the wall of black foliage up to a tableau of treestops against the clot of clouds. The large scale symmetry is broken by details in the leaves that tickle the eyes as the compete for attention. This has that rare quality of the best images: it grabs attention and holds on. -tv
