Thanks a lot, aam1234, Tom and Yvonne, for commenting. Yes, Tom, I included the structure on the left hand side not only to show it is a canal--the "Canale Grande"--and not just some shore, but also to give the image some perspective. And you, Yvonne, watch out when you start "playing" with night-shots: it's easy to get hooked and absolutely fascinating; but there is also a learning curve, because the camera has some difficulties to cope with the dynamic range of scenes like this (I usually use PhotoShop's "Shadow/Highlight"-tool when post-processing). -- db.
