Thanks everyone for commenting! Lonnit, I can certainly bring up some detail.... see that black cloud up there? lol It was amazing weather that day. I'll do it and see what happens. jano

Beautiful image! Any chance of bringing up any detail in the right mountain? You chose an especially perfect angle to shoot from as the sand almost flawlessly mimics the shape of the mountains!!! Any other angle would surely have missed this! Fantastic eye and perfect crop! ~ Lonnit

I can almost feel the wind. Amazing range of lights and darks, visually conveying the windy atmosphere that looks like another planet. Fascinating to hear the story of how the shot is taken. Ihope the camera survived unscathed. -tv

Thanks Rod and Mikey - Yes Mikey, Sharon suggested that we visit the Sand Dunes Monument while we were in CO last year and I'm so glad I took her advice. It was so windy when we were there we had tarps around us just to cook - the weather turned on a dime and we didn't know whether we would get to walk up the dunes or not. Finally the weather cleared a little and we did about a 3 hour round trip to the top. I turned my back to the wind/sand, got the cam out carefully and took some shots - hoping to see the sand blowing. I felt I was on a rollercoaster. I've got to get back in a 4x4 :) Thanks for commenting. jano

I recognize those mountains, don't I? Isn't this the Sand Dunes Monument and those being the Sangre de Cristos in the background? This is a great shot, Jano. I've 'surfed' these dunes. They're huge, aren't they? This would be the other side of the Sangres from where I was in the "Layers" shot. Cheers, -mikey
