Personally, I liked the original one much better.

That works well too, I did imagine it the other way up but it's fine now.

Whatever you've done to improve thru the advice of the gang has really worked! The image is quite pleasing as well as showing texture in the background and, of course, the shadow adds texture, too.shu

Now I think this looks great! Great dimension. A slight spot in the lower right third that can easily be cloned out. Love the color! jano

Christina, I'd do some selective sharpening on some of the middle spikey things. I think it would give the image more of a three-dimensional feel.

Counter clockwise wiv the green bit on top:-) It just seems to rest better with me eyes. But as always its how you see it that matters.

Rod, which way vertical? I tried both and they looked a little strange, but then that may just be because I'm used to seeing it horizontal.

Abstract, thanks for the comment. I actually intentionally shot this at an f8 to get the whole pod in focus. Maybe I over did it a little. I do have one at a slightly lower aperture. I'll look at it again (and maybe replace this with it to see what the peanut gallery thinks!)

this is a nice shot of an interesting subject. i personally try these sort of shots with my S1 at almost full zoom to have better dof (to blur the background). -Abstract

Its funny I don't like the look of this, but in the vertical it looks good:-)
