Los Angeles

This was all the you could see of this crazy house.
I'm figuring that since you all love the old run down houses and think they're beautiful (which I do too!) then you might find this one ugly!

awesome find! The owner probably sells those statues right from the front lawn ;)

I don't think they're selling it. I think that the brochures were more about advertisement of the crazyness. If I had to guess about what someone would ask for a place like this, given the location of it in LA and the size, I would think it would go for multimillions! (And I may be remembering wrong about the bag. It might just have been someone's trash that they left as an "offering"!)

Is this thing actually for sale - it is truly ugly! I cannot imagine what goes through someone's mind when they design and build something like this. Just curious - how much are they asking for it? I'd love to know who buys it! :-) CJ

Yup. It's realy all right. There are something like 18 statues of David with one small Venus di Milo in the center of them all. You can barely see her near the center of the frame. Then there are a whole bunch of columns on the roof with busts on them. You can see five of them in this photo. There were more. And it was all surrounded by a white wrought iron fence. In the bottom right corner you can see a bit of the plastic shopping bag that was hanging there. If I recall correctly there are usually "information" packets in this bag. One thinks they could have sprung for something a little nicer!

Too bad it wasn't Christmas as my friends tell me they dress all the statues up and add lights to the whole mess. Now that's gotta be ugly! I'll do my best to get there this December and see for myself!

Oh, and this thing was bloody huge. Not tall, but really expansive in terms of how far it went across and back. Really a lesson in excess!

Should be good now! Thanks Armin! And thanks Brent!

cheers, Armin

Gaudy = ugly indeed! To me this is a great example of a "McMansion", although the ultimate ones are bloody huge. All the money in the world won't give this homeowner good taste. Good one Christina.
