This is really red Brent! Quite cool. Yvonne (I have to get to this library)

iiks, is that real? Or maybe you need to adjust yor WB ;-) Excellent, I like it

WOW! What a great red shot Brent! I like this version better than the one with the black ceiling. And what an inovative building too. It's hard to believe a library would have a space that looked like this! Terrific shot! :-) CJ

Very impressing ! I would not walk through without a life buoy. The ground seems to be a fluid flow, the stairs half submerged ... Best, Nicola

Ric - your comment will be repeated if you refresh the pic without leaving the pic after you comment. Tricky, mind boggeling, and totally annoying...but yea it does happen :) What a wonderful image huh?
Guest 14-Jun-2006 00:31
I like the cropped version much better.
Guest 13-Jun-2006 18:07
I have no idea how my comment/question got repeated - but thanks for the reply, sounds like an interesting space.
Guest 13-Jun-2006 18:01
Wow! I wasn't sure the crop was necessary - but I do prefer this one... Am I the only one that wants to know where this is? Great picture.

Thanks Techo, Ric and belatedly Christina :-) This is a multi-purpose area in the downtown Seattle Public Library. Those vertical black lines you see on the walls are brush bristles on the ends of each of the panels that help seal the gap between between them. The panels can be rotated open and closed to configure the space according to particular needs.

Woops, I was the mystery commentator. I should stop doing things at night!

This is really nice! I too like this crop more than the originally posted one. Gotta love the cool Reds going on here 8)

Thanks mystery commentor and Rod. I think this composition had grown on me to the point that I am satisfied. I think it is nice the way the eye is now drawn into the depths of the space more strongly. I appreciate the helpful feedback.

I like this a lot better Brent, but I can see why you would like the dark ceiling as well. Maybe try a few different viewpoints with the dark ceiling to see if you can make it fit the composition better. Mind you, you did like the first one but it's what we like that matters here:-)
ctfchallenge13-Jun-2006 04:57
Oh, I really like this one a lot better. I think that it really makes it all come together. Much more ominous. It's all red and it makes me feel a little crazy just to look at it!
Brent 13-Jun-2006 04:04
Okay, I reshot this and as suggested didn't include the black skylight on top this time. I'm really torn on which I like better- but if others seem to like this I'm cool with it.
Funny, I kept thinking of the Shining and "Redrum-Redrum-Redrum" is I was deciding a name for this one Jano :-)
janewigginsphotography13-Jun-2006 03:36
i agree on the crop... The word "Redrum" keeps coming into my mind when i view this...(red room) jano
Guest 12-Jun-2006 17:05
I would consider cropping off the black at the top. Just a thought on a cool shot.
Brent 12-Jun-2006 14:08
Thanks much for your feedback Rod. I was thinking the geometry of the black skylight complimented all the other angles, but if I reshoot I will try a comp without it- this was handheld.
Rod 12-Jun-2006 06:25
Its a wonder your sensor didn't blow up init:-)
I seem to like this with the dark bit of ceiling cropped out, the composition seems much stronger then. Goodun Brent well done.
