full exif
Hey sorry to confuse you all (I haven't been too much involved with these challenges lately, but as I made this picture when the motion challenge started I decided to use it)
The technical info (there was also some cheating involved).
I used my Canon G2 with polarizer to get the shutter speed down to about 1/125s (it was very sunny, but I needed 1/125 for the panning effect), used manual focus at about 3,5 meters (hey, sorry, I'm european). I also added the relevant exif info to the caption of the image.
And now the cheating part: I carefully selected the subject and shadow, and did a motion blur on the background to emphasis the panning some more.
Well, yes ... then it certainly looked professional.
btw they used this image on a website about the world championship, so I'm a bit proud ;-)
Thanks all.
Jan
p.s. For the sports freaks - the person is a Lithuanian sportsman Egidijus Matuliauskas (I got this info from Saulius Ruzinskas from Lithuania)
nope. though it's not mine, the method is called panning. where you pan the camera at the same speed and catch the moving thing. the shutter has to be longer then usual. when done right it will blur the background and keep everything else clear. cutting something like this out would be very difficult.

Nice photo.
It looks like the cyclist has been 'cut out' and the motion in the background added later. Is this right?
