I like the concept of this shot, Mary Anne, but I find the white spots very distracting. The reflection and the grey ice are fantastic! ~Sharon

This is such an interesting concept "looking down into a little stream.." The clarity of the ice and reflections are wonderful. I was also confused about the white blotches but this makes sense now. Did you expose for the white snow? Just wondering as I have never tried a shot like this.... need to wait for the next snow fall and some ice :) I like the treatment here. Very nice jano

Cat, the gray areas are frozen ice and snow on the surface of the pond, while the white areas are places where remnants of snow from a recent light snowfall were sitting on top of branches or logs that were sticking out of the water. I don't know why the snow remained in some places and not in others, but I found the same situation everywhere I photographed that day. It was kind of annoying, because those patches of brilliant white snow made picture-taking very tricky.

This one has a very serene feel to it. Why the difference in color of the snow? -Cat

They're just patches of very white snow and BH's. It was beginning to get dark when I took this shot, and I had to increase the exposure in order to get the details of the rest of the image. I kind of like the torn-paper collage look they give--or, as you said, a sense that something is missing. Just trying to be artsy. LOL

I like this a lot but don't quite understand the big white blotches (at the top and bottom left). Is it missing photo info? LOL

Thanks, Yvonne. No windows here. This was shot looking down into a little stream under a country bridge as the sun was going down. Unfortunately, it was one of those pallid sunsets that are so common in the winter here, so I just put the photo into b & w and played around with the gradient tool until I got a range of tones I liked.

Mary Anne, This is one of the most interesting shots entered. Ok, its ice and trees and?...window. I know you like those. I really find this is fun one to view. Yvonne
